Spin Master Entertainments new animated series Mighty Express has been picked up by Netflix and will premier on the streamer this autumn.
The 52 x 11-minute series is the latest from Keith Chapman, the creator of Paw Patrol, and will be the first show the Canadian toy firm launches straight to a streaming platform when it debuts this September. It falls in line with the company’s previous statements about moving away from linear TV and towards a more multi-platform approach for its properties.
Mighty Express is animated by Canadian studio Atomic Cartoons and executive produced by Spin Master Entertainment’s co-CEO Ronnen Harary, and EVP Jennifer Dodge, who says: “Spin Master Entertainment has deep experience developing compelling stories and endearing characters for preschool audiences worldwide.
“We have the unique ability to take classic, beloved themes for kids, add innovation, combined with amazing storytelling and high-end animation to deliver fresh, new content.”
The property is owned by Spin Master, which retains rights to distribute the series outside of SVOD. The company will also launch an accompanying toy line and licensed consumer products programme in 2021.
