Mark Hamill, Lena Heady and Sarah Michelle Gellar will lead a star-studded line-up for Mattel Television’s rebooted Masters of the Universe.
The anime series, Masters of the Universe: Revelation, is heading to Netflix under the stewardship of Kevin Smith, who serves as showrunner and executive producer, and says he “cannot believe the lineup of talent I get to play with”.
Hamill will voice main bad guy Skeletor, while Headey reprises her icy Game of Thrones demeanor to play wicked witch Evil-Lyn. Sarah Michelle Gellar will breathe life into Teela, and
Chris Wood, of The Vampire Diaries fame, will voice hero He-Man. Fans of the original will recognise Alan Oppenheimer, the original voice of Skeletor, who returns as Moss Man.
“The incredible, star-studded cast that Mattel’s Rob David and Netflix’s Ted Biaselli assembled for our Masters of the Universe series will let any lifelong He-Man fan know we’re treating this cartoon seriously,” Smith adds.
Stars of the big and small screen round out the cast, including Alicia Silverstone, Justin Long, Liam Cunningham, and Kevin Smith’s daughter Harley Quinn Smith.
Mattel’s franchise reboot also includes a comic book series by DC Comics – available now – reimagined versions of the 80’s toys, which will hit retail shelves this autumn, a CG-animated series, and a feature film.
Rob David, Executive Producer, Masters of the Universe: Revelation, says: “Masters of the Universe: Revelation is for the fans. Kevin Smith, as well as the rest of the all-star cast, share our love and passion for the iconic franchise and the deeper meaning of the property.”
