Channel 5 has commissioned season two of UK animated series, Wissper for their popular pre-school block, Milkshake!

The broadcaster has ordered 52 x 7-minute episodes of the show, which follows a girl who has the ability to communicate with animals. Wissper is a co-production by Cuckoo, m4e AG, Telegael, Discreet Art Productions, and BASTEI Media.

“We are really excited to be producing a further series of Wissper for Milkshake,” said Dan Good, MD, Cuckoo. “The show has really connected with the pre-school audience, not only here in the UK but in dozens of territories around the world. It will be an absolute pleasure to create 52 more episodes featuring our little animal whisperer and her furry friends!”

The Wissper toy line from Simba Smoby is available in shops from March. The range includes dolls, playsets, role-play and plush toys. BASTEI Media is signed as master publishing partner with Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products set to announce more license partners for the property in the coming months.

“Dan and the Cuckoo team have created a beautiful show which is proving popular with our audience,” said Sarah Muller, Head of Children’s, Channel 5. “Wissper has a lot of promise and we are keen to see how we can grow and develop the property across a second series.”

Wissper debuted on Milkshake! in October 2015 where it became the top show in the timeslot for kids aged four to nine.*  The show also airs on Nick Jr. Too. In the series, seven-year old Wissper is transported to locations around the world to help out her animal friends. Highlighting empathy and teamwork, the show has been watched by almost 5 million viewers in the UK across Milkshake! and Nick Jr. The series is one of the most popular children’s shows on Channel 5’s VOD platform, My5 with almost two million views to date.
