CBBC has commissioned a second series of Beano Studios’ hit animated TV show Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed!

The 52 x 11’ second series stars Beano’s irrepressible hero Dennis and his best friend Gnasher, alongside fearless pals Rubi, JJ, Pieface and his pet potato Paul. Together they cook up crazy plans, get into all sorts of scrapes and take on every challenge.

“We’re really excited to be working on the second series of Dennis & Gnasher: Unleashed! and look forward to sharing more adventures from TV’s most notorious cheeky duo,” says Emma Scott, CEO of Beano Studios. “It’s great to see that the Beano characters resonate with today’s young audiences globally. We hope that the new series with Dennis and his gang will empower and encourage everyday rebellion, unlimited imagination and big laughs for kids everywhere.”

The first season of the International Emmy-nominated kid’s show was a ratings winner on CBBC at launch in 2017. It was the highest rated animated programme for 6-12-year-olds, and a top 10 show for kids across all channels in the UK that year. Following its successful UK debut, the show has since been sold to 24 countries and airs on free-to-air public service broadcasters such as Super RTL in Germany, Rai in Italy and France Télévision.

Cheryl Taylor, Head of Content, BBC Children’s says: “Dennis and Gnasher continue to be two of our best loved characters and their ardent fans will be delighted to see this rambunctious series return to CBBC.”
