Oddball kids' series Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese finds strong pre-sales and brings together BBC and Gulli in first ever cartoon co-production

Cloudco unveils un-brie-lievable new animation thumbnail

A boy, a girl, a dog, a cat, a mouse and a wheel of anthropomorphic cheese walk into a bar – that’s more or less the conceit of a quirky new kids’ animation from Cloudco.

Boy Girl Dog Cat Mouse Cheese is an animated sitcom for children six to 12 from Cloudco Entertainment, Watchnext Media and Kavaleer Productions. The series has been ordered by BBC for CBBC in the UK and commissioned by French network Gulli – the first time the two networks have teamed on a cartoon coproduction. The series has also been pre-ordered by RTÉ and will receive additional funding from the Irish Film board.

“This is a stand out comedy that made us cry with laugher from the moment we were pitched the concept!” said Jackie Edwards Head of Acquisitions, BBC Children’s. “We can’t wait to introduce it to our audience.”

Another Cloudco series, Claude, was recently picked up in a string of broadcast deals

Set to debut from 2019, the comedy series has been described by Cloudco as a blend of the Brady Bunch and Modern Family. Though greatly different and often rivals in real life, the six main characters must learn to love each other and live together under one roof. 

Describing the show as a “great comedy” Caroline Cochaux, Managing Director, Lagardère Active TV France & International, and CEO of Gulli says : « Beyond a shadow of a doubt, with this hilarious step-family, we will gather young and old alike. And past the comedy, as Youth’s French leader, it’s very important for Gulli to show that a family is first and foremost people that love each other, regardless of the origins, differences or particularities of each family member.”
