ITV Studios Global Entertainment (ITVS GE) has named Modern Brands and Planet Fun as exclusive toy distribution partners for the new Thunderbirds Are Go toy line in Australia and New Zealand respectively.

Both companies will roll out the toy range from AW19, having showcased the range of collectables, action figures and vehicles at the Melbourne Toy Fair in March.

“Australia is a very relevant and important market for Thunderbirds Are Go. We are very excited to be working with ITV to bring the Thunderbirds Are Go toy line to the Australian retailers and consumers from 2019,” says Tim Clarke, General Manager at Modern Brands. “Thunderbirds has a strong following in Australia and as a long-term property has a great fit within the Modern Brands brand portfolio.”

Thunderbirds Are Go airs on both ABC ME and Nine Network in Australia, and on TVNZ2 in New Zealand, providing fantastic coverage across free-to-air channels in both countries, and additional video-on-demand exposure in New Zealand through kids’ platform Heihei.

The series is a co-production between ITV Studios and New Zealand-based Pukeko Pictures, in collaboration with world-famous New Zealand studio Weta Workshop, making these hugely significant and important markets for the brand.

Jeremy Kirk-Smith, CEO at Planet Fun, says: “Planet Fun have long been passionate Thunderbirds Are Go fans, and are proud that the show is produced in New Zealand (in Wellywood!). We are thrilled to announce that The Warehouse will be exclusive retail partners with stock hitting the shelves in August this year.”

The first nine episodes of season 3, which aired in the UK from March 2018, reached 1.4 million kids in the first run, according to BARB figures. Season 3 continues this year in the UK, and will follow in Australia and New Zealand with new episodes to support the launch of the toy line.
