The LEGO Group has partnered with BBC Studios to launch a new LEGO Technic set based on Top Gear, the world’s biggest and longest-running motoring shows.
Aimed at kids aged nine and up – and big kids – the set will launch globally in early 2020.
“Bringing LEGO Technic and BBC Top Gear together will be a dream come true for car fans all over the world,” says Eloise Bradley, Senior Licencing Manager at The LEGO Group. “We’re looking forward to working with BBC Top Gear to bring some amazing innovative engineering to life – stay tuned!”
Top Gear is the one of the jewels in the BBC crown, with an estimated 350m viewers globally, across 200-plus territories. As well as taking over TV screens, Top Gear’s YouTube channel has ore than 2.2 billion video views and 6/7m subscribers, while on social media there are 21 million global fans on Facebook and 3.5m on Instagram, the brand’s fastest growing social profile.
Jason Easy, Head of Licensing UK, BBC Studios, adds: “We are extremely excited to have partnered with LEGO Technic. Both brands enjoy a very close relationship with their fans, it’s certainly a natural fit for both and we’re really looking forward to seeing the LEGO Technic Set hit the shelves next year.”
