UK licensed merchandise wholesaler with more than 30,000 skus expands with agents in Germany, Austria and Switzerland

Rockoff Retail Ltd., Liverpool, a leading wholesaler of licensed merchandise, has appointed V.I.P. Entertainment & Merchandising AG as its exclusive sales agents for Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Rockoff claims to be one of the largest suppliers of merchandising products in Europe, with almost 30,00 skus and more than 2.5 million items in stock.

Alongside around 100 world-renown bands and artists, including AC/DC, Bob Marley, David Bowie, Elton John, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, KISS, Lady Gaga, Madonna, Prince, Queen, Rolling Stones, to name but a few, Rockoff also stocks Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, DC-Comics and other popular character products. The company deals in core apparel, with shirts, caps, jackets and hoodies, as well as jewellery, bags and other mass-market items such as keyrings , mugs and stationery.

“For sure we have the largest stock,” says Rockoff MD Gary Blain. “Hence the instant delivery.”

Based in Hamburg, Germany, V.I.P. is a long-established licensing agent in the German-speaking territory and will look to leverage its widespread contacts to promote the licenses and develop new prospects for Rockoff’s business. Michael Lou, CEO V.I.P. says he is confident that the breadth and depth of designs and licenses in the Rockoff offering, coupled with the immediate availability will be a major advantage in the market.

He told German trade publication MusikWoche in November that while physical media sales have suffered due to the digitalisation of the music industry, streaming has become a big driver of licensed merchandise sales.

“For instance, the Beatles have sold over 50 years an unmatched number of about 1 billion records,” he said. “But during the three years Beatles songs have been available on streaming platforms they have been streamed more than 3 billion times. In addition their social media presence provides an excellent marketing platform.”
