Scholastic Publishing has been appointed the global master licensing partner for Guru Studio's newest pre-school series Pikwik Pack.

Scholastic will develop storybooks, as well as novelty and activity books, based on Guru’s original series, which rolls out on Disney Junior US next year. The deal follows a string of leading licensees signed to the property, including Playmates Toys as the global master toy partner.

“We’re incredibly proud to be working with a best-in-class partner like Scholastic,” says Jonathan Abraham, VP of Sales and Business Development at Guru Studio. “We’re seeing tremendous interest for Pikwik Pack from across the licensing world, and together with Disney Junior, Playmates Toys and Scholastic we have an incredible foundation for the brand.”

Debra Dorfman, Vice President and Publisher, Global Licensing, Brands and Media, Scholastic, adds: “Pikwik Pack has all the evergreen elements of children’s programming and storytelling: humour, teamwork, overcoming obstacles, community and friendship. We’re incredibly excited to bring these endearing characters and expansive world to life for young readers.”

The series follows the Pikwik Pack – Suki the hedgehog, Axel the raccoon, Tibor the hippo and Hazel the cat – as they deliver magical packages filled with love to the kind citizens of Pikwik. The 52 x 11’ episodes are aimed at pre-schoolers and encourage themes of teamwork, community and critical thinking through storylines packed with big adventures, silly hijinks, and heartfelt charm.

A sneak peek of Pikwik Pack will be debuting at Mip Junior as a world premiere screening on 12 October at 6pm in the JW Marriott Hotel, Cannes, France.
