Elmo and Big Bird were the real head-turners at London Fashion Week on Tuesday.
Sesame Street’s most famous characters featured in the On|Off LFW Show in a catwalk collection from designer JimmyPaul and Difuzed.
JimmyPaul’s designs was an affectionate take on the bold, playful world and characters of Sesame Street, with a high-fashion twist. Honouring the pre-school show’s 50th anniversary this year, the collection celebrated Sesame Street’s global impact on pop culture and showcased a number of new apparel and accessory lines from Difuzed that fans of big and small will soon be able to find at retail.
“For this amazing show, JimmyPaul skilfully adapted the charm, humour and colour of Sesame Street to produce a wonderful and stylish collection of outfits that took everyone’s breath away,” says Sole Puerto, Senior Creative Manager at Bulldog Licensing, the UK licensing agent for the brand on behalf of Sesame Workshop. “We, and many fans of fashion and Sesame Street, are now looking forward to seeing the Difuzed line based on these fabulous creations at retail.”
The event was attended by an audience of fashion and licensing journalists, including LTW.MEDIA, bloggers, licensees and, of course, Sesame Street fans. And, if clamouring and clandestine attempts to gain entrance without a ticket are any gauge of fashion show’s popularity, then the Sesame Street showcase was the hottest ticket in town.
With Sambro on board as master plush partner, and very strong sales across soft lines for both adults and kids, Bulldog is looking to expand the licensing programme further across a number of categories, including toys, gifts, accessories, homewares and stationery.
