Animaccord names new CEO thumbnail

Vladimir Gorbulya has been named the new CEO of Animaccord Group, promoted from his former role at the company as Head of Licensing and Vice President.

Vladimir is credited with driving the global expansion of the studio’s hit Masha the Bear brand, which, until he joined the company in 2012, enjoyed local popularity in the CIS region but had yet to make an impact internationally.

In his new c-suite role he will manage the offices of Animaccord Group in the USA, Cyprus and Russia, leading the company’s future business diversification by exploring and acquiring new animated properties. The overarching remit will be to facilitate brand development and expansion into global markets and across multiple areas of licensing.

For the past seven years, Vladimir has helmed the team responsible for building Masha and the Bear worldwide, focusing heavily on the licensing of consumer product, media and promotional deals. During his tenure, the company has seen gross revenue grow 500 per cent in USD value, despite dramatic depreciation of the domestic market's currency, making Animaccord one of the top 100 licensors globally.

Growth has been built on the back of an expansive international media strategy with major cartoon broadcasters including Netflix, Google, Corus, NBCUniversal, Sony, Viacom18, RAI, France TV, Televisa and SBT. The exposure drives brand awareness supporting a strong consumer products campaign for the property across multiple markets worldwide. On YouTube, the brand has also achieved over 42 bn views cumulatively and 44 m subscribers

He and the team have also developed a solid portfolio with global licensed consumer products leaders including Simba Dickie Group – now a shareholder in Animaccord – Ferrero, Hachette, Penguin Random House, and Clementoni.
