Popeye scrubs up for men’s grooming range thumbnail

King Features Syndicate has prepped a Popeye men’s grooming range with Barbershop & Shave Company, featuring the heroic animated sailor and bad guy Brutus.

Launched as part of the Popeye 90th anniversary celebration, the product range covers everything men need to spruce themselves up: hair pomade, beard oil, beard balm, beard wash, shave cream, post-shave lotion, and pre-shave oil.

“The passion behind this Popeye range made this partnership an ideal alignment for the brand in its anniversary year,” says Carla Silva, VP and General Manager, Global Head of Licensing for King Features. “This unique grooming collection, featuring both Popeye and Brutus, celebrates the American tradition of barbershop culture in #PopeyeStrong fashion.”

The range is supported at bricks and mortar retail with tin cans wrapped in custom Popeye and Brutus artwork, die cut stickers and window clings.

Anniversary celebrations for Popeye launched with new children’s YouTube series Popeye’s Island Adventures, followed by the debut of comic strip series, Popeye’s Cartoon Club.
