DK is to publish a tie-in book to accompany The Baby Club, a pioneering ‘dual-audience’ series on CBeebies aimed at both kids and parents.
The book, titled Play and Learn with Your Baby: Simple Activities with Amazing Benefits, will be aimed at all parents and carers, giving them not only plenty of ideas for interactive games to enjoy with their baby, but crucially also explaining the child development theory that underpins every activity.
“The research carried out by The Baby Club's creators has given us amazing content for this ground-breaking parenting book New mums and dads can use it anywhere at any time, confident that every activity, song and story will help give their baby the best possible start in life,” says DK Publishing Director Mary Clare Jerram, who acquired the global rights in a deal brokered by Vickie O’Malley, MD at Rockpool Licensing.
Vickie, says: “To have such an esteemed publisher on board for The Baby Club is fabulous news. Play and Learn with Your Baby builds perfectly on the themes of The Baby Club. DK‘s title gives myriad examples of opportunities to interact with your baby and explains associated developmental benefits in a clear and easy-to-understand style.”
The Baby Club is aimed at parents of six to 18-month-old babies and presented by Giovanna Fletcher and Nigel Clarke. The show is styled as an on-screen baby club, designed to be viewed by parents and babies together. Launched in March 2019, it is already a regular feature in CBeebies top viewing chart, with series 2 launching in July.
Emma Hyman, co-creator of The Baby Club, adds: “We are absolutely delighted to be partnering with DK. The Baby Club may seem like a simple idea but beneath that simplicity is a vast amount of research and take-home value. Thanks to this invaluable new handbook, parents and carers will be able to understand and be inspired by every aspect of The Baby Club.”
Play and Learn with Your Baby will be published in February 2020 supported by a high profile marketing and PR campaign fronted by presenter Nigel Clarke.
