Play at Home Fest is a virtual festival, organised by Dr Gummer’s Good Play Guide. Held between 23-24 May, this year’s event will not only offer a great way to keep the kids entertained at home, but also help raise funds for the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus Appeal.
And to add to the excitement, it has been confirmed that a string of household names will be joining the not-for-profit virtual festival.
Stand-up comedian and author, Shappi Khorsandi, will headline the main stage to entertain families during the virtual festival. Mum of two, Shappi, is a well-known name, having appeared on primetime shows including Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, 8 out of 10 Cats and I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
Headlining the Time To Create Stage and bringing a model-making workshop to the festival is Merlin Crossingham from Aardman, the world-famous animation studio. Merlin is creative director of Wallace & Gromit and Morph, but also directs commercials, short films and was animation director on the recent feature film Early Man. Merlin will share tips and tricks with budding animators.
Maggie & Rose, the global family members’ club, has teamed up with classic children’s character, Miffy, to host a very special session for little ones filled with Miffy-inspired Maggie & Rose art, craft, cooking and story-time classes. The instantly recognisable rabbit, created by Dick Bruna, is an evergreen brand with a multi-generational appeal, and this year celebrates her 65th anniversary.
The award-winning makers of the Toniebox, tonies take care of the evening wind-down for little ones, with storytime performances on the main stage.
Ravensburger is sponsoring the Time to Create Stage with its GraviTrax interactive track system.
Also joining the fun are Theodora Children’s Charity’s Giggle Doctors, Gibsons Games, Tomy, Trends, Geomag, Mirakin and Junko, bringing a whole host of exciting activities to the event.
The 3foot People Festival have also partnered up with the event organisers to host a dedicated Pre-Schooler Stage showcasing an array of under-fives focused talent.
There are still opportunities to get involved with the festival, but these are limited and being offered on a first come, first served basis. Anyone interested in getting involved should contact email@example.com.
