Licensing industry trade body LIMA has been rebranded Licensing International to better reflect the multifaceted, increasingly global “licensing industry of tomorrow”.

Under the new banner and with a refreshed brand identity, the organisation is reinforcing the central role it plays in advocacy and support for the global licensing trade.

The new name in particular aims to convey its global reach, with offices in 12 countries around the world and support for dozens of local and international trade events, as well as licensing’s emergence and rapid evolution in markets around the world.

The overhaul is the organisation’s most significant repositioning since it was founded in 1985. Then, around 70 per cent of the world’s licensing revenue was produced in North America. Today, international markets claim more than 40 per cent of the $270 billion that licensing generates annually.

But it’s not just a face lift. As Licensing International, the organisation has committed to place renewed focus on its key goals of fostering growth and expansion of licensing globally, raising the level of professionalism of licensing executives, and generating greater awareness of the benefits of licensing in the wider business community.

Maura Regan, Licensing International president, says: “As the leading facilitator in the licensing industry, we serve a growing, global community by connecting members and diverse brands across the world to invaluable insight and resources.

“Our debut as Licensing International symbolises a new chapter for the community, and demonstrates our dedication to the licensing industry of tomorrow.”

Licensing International has also launched a more sophisticated website with a richer feature set and greater resources to support the current and next generation of licensing professionals.
