As San Diego Comic-Con celebrates its 50th anniversary, Funko is upping its presence and teaming up with the famous pop-culture fan event to produce Comic-Con licensed collectables.

“We have a lot of exciting news in store for the 50th Comic-Con including utilising the official mascot of Comic-Con, the adored Toucan,” says Brian Mariotti, Chief Executive Officer of Funko. “With this great milestone also came a great opportunity for our team to dream and create exciting new products for our fans. It’s going to be quite a memorable experience with a Funko event display that will not disappoint.”

The collaboration will see Funko and Comic-Con develop co-branded merchandise exclusives for the five-day event. Funko product available for sale include the San Diego SDCC Toucan Mascot Pop! vinyl figure, a Batman Pop! vinyl figure holding an SDCC bag and a SDCC Toucan Mascot Pop! PEZ. Additionally, Pop! packaging will feature 50th artwork and the iconic SDCC eye logo.

“We’re thrilled to celebrate our 50th annual event with some exciting branded merchandise,” says David Glanzer, Chief Communications and Strategy Officer for Comic-Con. “Our beloved Toucan mascot will be immortalized as, not only a timeless PEZ dispenser, but also one of the highly recognizable Pop! vinyl figures.”

Another first will be Funko’s double-decker booth, a larger-than-life display area with 72 Comic-Con-exclusive vinyl figures. A second SDCCxFunko booth (#3249), will sell Funko and Comic-Con merchandise exclusives, that fans can learn more about on social media closer to the event.

The 50th edition of San Diego Comic-Con will run 18-21 July 2019.
