The founder of Christmas in July (CIJ) Festival, Courtney Rogers has announced the confirmed dates for the CIJ Festival as 8-9 September 2020.

The CIJ Festival was postponed, due to the outbreak of Covid-19. But Rogers says that the event will now take place between 8-9 September at its existing venue, the Business Design Centre, London.

This will be supplemented by a digital launch to the long-lead media on 9 July.

The Business Design Centre, which will be familiar to those who attended the CIJ Festival last year, has been working closely with the Association of Exhibition Organisers to ensure that the venue is a Covid-secure, safe and hygienic place for guests to visit. The venue will shortly be launching a video, which includes all of the measures that they are taking.

Rogers shared some of measures that will be implemented to make the space Covid secure, including:

  • Thermal image temperature checks, both at the registration area and at the Loading Bay to ensure that anyone who enters the place doesn’t have a temperature
  • Touchless sanitising stations will be installed
  • Touchless flushes and sink areas will also be installed
  • The venue is also investing in cleaning equipment and chemicals approved by Public Health England that can sanitise surfaces for up to 30 days and skin for 24 hours

The measures being taken by the British Design Centre will be supplemented by all of the measure that the CIJ organisers will be implementing to ensure the safe arrival of guests. This includes Uber credit to help minimise public transport usage.

The event will be held in a safe and controlled environment following all Government advice and social distancing.

The Exhibitor’s Manual will be updated in the next couple of weeks to include all of these new Covid-secure measures.

With non-essential retail coming back into play on 1 June, Rogers said that the team is really excited to get that momentum back and to start planning for the Christmas period.

The organisers have added a Covid Clause to its terms and conditions, offering full peace of mind for those who wish to book for the event on the 8 and 9 September. Should the event not be able to go ahead due to Covid-19, new bookings will be eligible to elect for a refund or deferral to 2021.
