Lisa Wright hired as SVP Licensing for newly launched Semphore Licensing Solutions, which says it will help online content creators disrupt retail through brand extension

Semaphore launches all-new licensing division thumbnail

Business management group Semaphore is branching out with a new division dedicated to consumer product licensing, tapping industry veteran Lisa Berlin Wright as Senior VP of Licensing.

Semaphore Licensing Solutions will focus on consumer products licensing that is designed to give new media creators extensive retail distribution. The company already operates an advisory service for YouTube creators called Tuber Business Solutions, alongside business management and tax services.

Lisa brings years of experience to the new business, having headed up licensing teams at Universal Pictures and Spelling Entertainment, and consulted through her boutique agency Tie In Pro for the likes of Atari Games and music specialist Epic Rights.

She will be joined by Scott MacDonald, who oversaw talent development and management at Machinima, one of the best known multiplatform online entertainment networks and an early champion of online video game content, as COO.

Semaphore CEO Michael Bienstock, and the company’s CFO Nate Higgins, both co-founders, will hold the same positions at Semaphore Licensing Solutions.

Semaphore says its aim is to help YouTubers and other new media content creators ‘distupt’ retail in a similar vein to traditional media, calling retail the “next frontier” for the biggest online entertainers.

"Our firm has always been client focused – this expansion allows us to provide expert guidance to our clients so they can successfully navigate and benefit from the rapidly evolving retail industry,” Michael says. “We see licensing as the next powerful wave of opportunity for top new media creators and we intend to be the leading player in the space."
