The spooky second season of animated series The Strange Chores, by Emmy Award winning Ludo Studio, and Media World Pictures has been commissioned by ABC Australia, with 26 new episodes beginning pre-production this month in Australia. The first 26 episodes premiered on ABC Australia, and the first season has been sold around the world to numerous territories since its release in October last year.

The Strange Chores sees two teenage wannabe heroes Charlie and Pierce, and spirited ghost girl Que, master the skills they need to replace aging monster-slayer Old Man Helsing, by doing his supernatural chores.

Global distribution and licensing will continue to be managed by Boat Rocker Studios based in Toronto, Canada, with offices in New York, London, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Ottawa. President, rights and managing director, Boat Rocker Studios, Jon Rutherford said: “The Strange Chores is a wildly funny series, with strong international appeal, that has struck a chord with broadcasters around the world. This second series allows us to keep global audiences entertained with another dose of Charlie, Pierce and Que’s hilarious magical antics.”

Libbie Doherty, head of children’s at ABC Australia, said “The focus on the life of these unique and funny teenagers is a brilliant introduction to genre storytelling for a young audience. Season two will build on that wonderful story world for all kids.”

Daley Pearson, co-founder of Emmy award winning Ludo Studio and showrunner of The Strange Chores, said the commission of season two is an incredible opportunity.

The Strange Chores is a Ludo Studio and Media World Pictures production for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Production investment is from Screen Australia, Film Victoria and Screen Queensland. Boat Rocker Studios manages the global distribution and licensing.

The Strange Chores series 2 will have 26 x 11-minute episodes and is expected to premiere on ABC Australia.
