Reemsborko named UK licensing agent for Dragon Ball thumbnail

Reemsborko has been named licensing agent for the hit Dragon Ball anime franchise in the UK and Ireland.

The appointment, which was made by Toei Animation Europe, a subsidiary of Dragon Ball owner Toei Animation, covers the entire property, including Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball Super.

Max Arguile, founder of Reemsborko, says: “I have worked on Dragon Ball many times over the years – what a great property! It is the single most widely recognised anime, with a demonstrable success at UK retail over the past 12 months.

“This year saw the launch of a new series, Dragon Ball Super, on kids’ TV channel Pop, which will grow a whole new generation of fans. I’m very pleased to be able to represent this for Toei Animation Europe in the UK.”

Dragon Ball Super: Broly was a cinema hit in 2019, making it the second-highest grossing anime movie in UK box office histroy

As well as wide recognition among the UK’s growing anime devotees, Goku, the central character in the Dragon Ball saga, will take to the global mainstream later this year as a key mascot for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Hélène Virenque, EMEA Licensing Manager, Toei Animation, says: “We have been very happy with our past collaborations with Max, and we’re looking forward to working with him to grow the Dragon Ball licensing and retail opportunities even further in the UK and Ireland.”

Dragon Ball joins other Japanese exports, including virtual pop star Hatsune Miku and Netflix anime original Cannon Busters, in the Reemsborko portfolio.
