Reemsborko has been appointed worldwide licensing agent for Cannon Busters, the forthcoming Netflix Original anime series distributed by Manga Entertainment.
Created by LeSean Thomas of The Boondocks, Legend of Korra, and Children of Ether pedigree, Cannon Busters is an original IP based on the characters and story first published by Udon Comics/Devil’s Due in the comic of the same name in 2005. A new 12-part anime will launch later this year exclusively on Netflix.
“It is a privilege to be working on this great property,” says Reemsborko founder Max Arguile. “There is already strong interest - apparel is going into Hot Topic in time for launch and a sportswear range is coming too (those licensees will be announced soon). We are now at contract with a European statue licensee, a UK jigsaw company and a US pin badge Iicensee. It’s looking very good for Cannon Busters.”
Following a successful Kickstarter campaign by Thomas himself to produce a pilot episode in 2014, Cannon Busters has generated a dedicated cult following. The series animation was produced entirely in Japan by LeSean Thomas, an American artist, and Satelight, the Tokyo-based studio behind such hits as Macross, making it one of the first anime series to be created and directed by a non-Japanese writer/animator
"I am both humbled and excited about the opportunity to create something truly international in the growing, mainstream appeal of anime," LeSean says. "Both Netflix and Manga Entertainment have been integral partners in my vision for a truly globalized approach to Japanese animation production and I am excited about what's to come for fans of anime with this fun, new entry into the medium."
Cannon Busters will be launched in over 190 territories globally later this year.
