Blue Zoo is taking a more active role in the direction of its own original IP and third-party properties with the formation of a new rights management division.

Joining the company to oversee the new division is Alison Warner. As the new business unit's Managing Director, she will oversee the Blue Zoo’s growing slate of properties, as well as handling pre-sales, distribution, brand management and merchandising.

“I am truly delighted to be joining the fantastic Blue Zoo team and tasked with setting up a brand- new division within the company,” says Alison. “It comes at a time where the UK animation industry is looking extremely positive with the UK Tax Credit in place and the Young Audience Content Fund launching, and I look forward to helping grow both Blue Zoo’s UK and international presence as a brand rights company.”

Blue Zoo's Miffy animated series coincides with the 60th anniversary of Dick Bruna's bunny

Alison will bring 20 years’ industry experience to role, most recently serving as Vice President of Sales, Acquisitions and Co-Production at Technicolor, where she developed The Deep with Netflix and Atomic Puppet for Disney XD. Prior to that she oversaw sales of properties such as Arthur, Caillou and Ella the Elephant.

Adam Shaw Blue Zoo Animation Co-Founder describes Alison’s appointment as “invaluable in realising the great ambitions we both share”.

Oli Hyatt, Co-founder Blue Zoo Animation, adds: “Having known Alison for 15 years, I’m certain she shares Blue Zoo’s strongly held belief in quality programming and producing the very best content for young audiences. It is an honour to be starting a business with someone who has such a wealth of experience and I look forward to many years of success together.”
