Merchantwise Licensing digs in with Minecraft down under thumbnail

Merchantwise Licensing has been appointed licensing agent for Minecraft in Australia and New Zealand.

It’s the first time the hit video game property has been represented by a local specialist in the territory, and precedes the launch of two new Minecraft games: AR mobile experience Minecraft Earth, and Minecraft Dungeons, a more traditional multiplayer game for consoles and PCs.

Alan Schauder, Managing Director at Merchantwise Licensing, says: “We are honoured to be working with Microsoft and Mojang on this unique and exciting brand, which both entertains and promotes positive values.

“Celebrating its 10th birthday in 2019, Minecraft is more popular than ever, with new games, film and TV entertainment all planned over the next few years. Above all, Minecraft is a brand that parents and educators love because it encourages creativity, problem-solving, collaboration and other life skills.”

Merchantwise Licensing plans to develop retail events, licensing and merchandising partnerships to further strengthen the brand in Australia and new Zealand.

Minecraft: Education Edition is used throughout schools in Australia and New Zealand; students can even explore Mini Melbourne and traditional Māori culture in the world of Minecraft.

Minecraft is one of the best-selling video game of all time, with 176 million copies sold.
