Kappa is making its first play for the esports market by teaming up with Vexed Gaming, one of the UK’s leading esports organisations.

The sportswear brand will provide licensed, co-branded tournament and casual wear for Vexed, including hoodies, T-shirts and more, which will be unveiled and available for fans to purchase from September.

Mark Weller, Chief Gaming Officer at Vexed Gaming, says the partnership is a “marked step” for the nascent industry and community growing up around esports.

“Kappa’s iconic brand and individual styling is ideally pitched for gamers worldwide,” he adds. “We are thrilled that, of all the teams in the world, Kappa has selected Vexed Gaming to show their support of Esports teams and engage with the wider gaming community.”

Joe Pilato, Sports Marketing Executive at Kappa UK, says the parallels between the gaming community and Kappa makes the move a natural progression for the brand.

“The esports and gaming community is full of passionate individuals who strive for personal excellence – something we at Kappa embrace in all we do,” he says. “These attributes are inherent to Vexed Gaming and we are delighted the make our official entry into Esports by supporting the aspirations and motivations of such a dynamic, motivated and talented organisation.”

Vexed Gaming fields teams in the biggest games in esports, including CSGO, Fortnite, Hearthstone and Apex Legends. Established in 2015, the organisation set up the UK’s first dedicated team training facility and Varisty programme, bridging the gap between traditional education and esports. Vexed is also the only esports team in the UK to collaborate with a professional football team, Leeds United.
